The specially constructed polyurethane filter foam used in AMSOIL Foam Air Filters provides a network of tiny, interlocking cells that trap dust and dirt particles and allow a constant flow of clean intake air. The AMSOIL LT Air Filter consists of one layer of foam wrapped around a reinforced metal cage. The AMSOIL 2-Stage Air Filter has two distinct foam layers to provide unparalleled air flow and dirt-trapping capability.

The AMSOIL Small Engine Foam Air Filters share the same unique foam design and provide the same superior protection as the AMSOIL LT and 2-Stage Air Filters. The AMSOIL POD Foam Air Filter has an inner spring that gives the filter a self-cleaning vibrating action to prevent the build-up of excess dirt.

AMSOIL Foam Air Filters are “full-depth” filters that trap and hold much more dirt than do conventional “surface-type” filters. The polyurethane foam used in AMSOIL Foam Air Filters is much thicker than the thin layer of paper used in conventional filters. The foam’s thickness allows for more filtering area and more capacity to trap dirt over a longer period of time. The foam traps and holds dirt throughout its entire volume to prevent a clogged or plugged condition common in conventional filters.

The service life of AMSOIL Foam Air Filters can be extended indefinitely when the following maintenance procedures are performed: Remove AMSOIL Foam Air Filter from air filter housing. Wipe housing free of dirt and deris. Carefully remove polyurethane foam from metal cage of AMSOIL Foam Air Filter. (Note: foam is not removable on planar-style [flat] filters). Wash polyurethane foam in detergent and water (alternate method: Wash filter in parts cleaning solution). Rinse in clean water. Allow foam to dry thoroughly. Apply AMSOIL Foam Filter Oil liberally on polyurethane foam. Squeeze foam repeatedly until oil penetrates its entire thickness. The AMSOIL Foam Filter Oil is specifically formulated for AMSOIL Air Filters. The AMSOIL Foam Filter Oil is designed to trap and hold dirt effectively, even in temperature extremes. Blot excess oil from polyurethane foam and reinstall foam on metal cage. Reinstall AMSIL Air Filter into air filter housing. Be sure the label is attached to the outside of the filter housing. To install a deflector (if included with filter): Install at either positive cranking ventilation (PVC) inlet or air inlet to filter housing (where applicable). Install deflector under edge of polyurethane foam only. Do not push deflector under metal cage.

AMSOIL Foam Air Filters provide engines with continuous air flow for an extended period of time. Internal combustion engines require approximately 1200 cubic feet of air for every gallon of gasoline. An improper air-fuel ratio from restricted air flow reduces engine performance and fuel economy. AMSOIL Foam Air Filters allow up to 50 percent greater air flow than do conventional filters. They maintain a consistent air/fuel ratio for improved engine performance and increased fuel mileage.

The test pads in front show the results of an air filter dirt-stopping demonstration. The paper filter at left and the oil-wetted cloth filter in the middle let that much dirt pass through, right into your engine. The AMSOIL Foam Air Filter didn't let any dirt pass through. That's dirt-stopping protection!

The flexible polyurethane foam of AMSOIL Foam Air Filters provides a consistent, tight seal between filter and housing. Unlike conventional filters, which often fail to seal properly due to their hard rubber seal, the foam of AMSOIL Foam Air Filters contours to irregularities on the bottom and top of the housing. Therefore, a tight seal is formed when the housing is secured. Intake air must go through the filter before reaching the carburetor.

AMSOIL Air Filters are available for most car and small engine applications. The AMSOIL POD Foam Air Filter is suited for applications such as motorcycle, rototillers, small garden tractors, lawn mowers or farm implement equipment. The AMSOIL POD Foam Air Filter is adjustable to fit carburetor throats ranging from 1 to 1 7/8 inches. It also has a special adapter for Briggs & Stratton carburetors. Other sizes and styles are available.
